A political row has broken out over the sacking of Deputy Health Minister Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge on the eve of Women’s Day.
Last night when it was announced on the radio it was said that it had to do with an unauthorised trip to Spain. My thougth was that at last the president was beginning to get tough after the travelgate scandal, and was cracking down on corruption.
This morning, however, it is different. Patricia de Lille, leader of the Independent Democrats, doesn’t buy that story for a moment.
AIDS activists are up in arms because Madlala-Routledge was more proactive in the fight against HIV/Aids, especially when the health minister was ill.
It will be interesting to see what happens.

I think that Nozizwe’s sheer naivety must be on a par with Manto’s incompetence and Thabo’s pig-headedness.
They were looking for a reason to sack her - she gave it them. Silly girl.

Well that sounds like a good summary of the story so far.
Time will tell.
