Blogger dead?

Following on my previous post, I’ve found I can post to my Blogger blogs, but can’t read them, and others appear to be having the same problem.

I wonder if ANYONE is able to read Blogger blogs — at least those hosted by Google at Blogspot.

I suspect not, because I tried to ping them on Amatomu, and Amatomu failed to pick them up, so it seems that the Blogger servers have crashed, or got a serious bug.

  • I blog on a daily basis, and yesterday I did not notice any failing on the part of blogspot.

  • Rethabile,

I’ve tried with two different browsers and three different computers, and cannot read any blogs hosted on Blogspot, and not only mine.

Every single one of them produces a “403 forbidden” message, and, to judge from the Blogger help forums, quite a number of other people are experiencing the same problem.

  • Steve,
I’ll look into this later when my kids are sleeping. I can’t imagine why this would be.

  • No problem here - I posted on one of my blogs yesterday, and just checked today. All fine. However I see that the blogger status page (http://status.blogger.com/) does show performance problems off and on on Friday - maybe that’s what you were hitting?

  • Sue,

I visited several of your blogs yesterday morning — your book reviews, quizzes and Cyprus ones. But by the afternoon they were all “403 forbidden”.

  • At the moment, I can read blogs on Blogger. I couldn’t this morning. However, I find a problem with WordPress — it’s not nearly as easy for me to access as Blogger is from Southern Africa. So I tend to steer clear of leaving comments on WordPress, since I too often get in a jam.

  • On Sunday afternoon my access to Blogspot blogs was restored, as mysteriously as it was removed.

  • Thomas,

I’ve not found WordPress any more difficult to access from Southern Africa than Blogger. Generally they are about the same, except that yesterday mroning WordPress was doing maintenance for an hour or two, while Blogger was impossible.
