Bright Saturday, farewell to Fr Athanasius

19 April 2015

I wanted to post this report here, but could no longer see how to access the old user-friendly WordPress editor, but only the new user-hostile one with its dreaded Beep Beep Boop.

So, unfortunately I have to post this on my old blog, Notes from Underground.

I started this blog because Blogger introduced a new dysfunctional editor, but now WordPress has introduced an even more dysfunctional one, so until they either fix it, or make their old editor accessible again, I will no longer be posting here, and stuff that I would have posted here will be on my Notes from Underground blog.

I will leave this blog up, so that links to its posts will still work, but will not be adding much to it in future.

It’s a bit longwinded but I’ve found I can access the old editor like this:

    1. Go to an existing page rather than a post (eg. your About page)
    2. Choose edit from the ‘My Sites’ menu
    3. Select Posts > Add New

and behold, there it is, old editor mode with message at the top saying, “There’s now an easier way to create on! Switch to the improved posting experience.”

Hope it works for you too!

Thanks Phil, just tried it and it worked, so I’ll be able to go on using WordPress a bit longer until they find a way iof blocking that loophole.

In most other secors of society they seem to be trying to makle things easier for people with disabilities, but web designers in genertal, and those at WordPress in particular, seem to have it in for the visually impaired, and want to make sure that only people with 20-20 vision can use their editor.

It does feel that way, doesn’t it? Really don’t know why they couldn’t simply give us the choice instead of making the new editor the default 😦
